GOASEAN.COM Wins Awards for Best Travel and Tourism Website

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, 13th October 2015: GOASEAN.com has received the Gold Award for ‘Best Travel Website’ and Silver Award for ‘Best Tourism Website’ by W3, just seven months after the portal’s launch in Kuala Lumpur.

The W3 Award, judged by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, is an invitation-only body consisting of top-tier professionals from acclaimed media, interactive, advertising and marketing firms.  The W3’s judging factors include creativity, usability, navigation, functionality and visual design.

The W3 Gold Awards, with previous winners such as Coca Cola, Sony Pictures and Paramount Pictures among others, received over 4,800 entries from across the globe this year. Fellow gold winners for 2015 include National Geographic, American Express, GoPro and others; and GOASEAN.com is proud to be counted the sole gold awardee from ASEAN, while being one of only three silver winners from the region. This award follows closely from GOASEAN being voted ‘Best Website of the Month’ for August by Malaysia Website Awards.

GOASEAN, the brainchild of the Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, aims to connect and engage with audience from across the globe to promote a people-centred ASEAN.

Secretary General of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Tan Sri Dr. Ong Hong Peng said, “These prestigious awards are a recognition of our relentless efforts to make innovative use of modern technology in our on-going bid to woo international tourist traffic to our ASEAN destinations. In commemorating Malaysia’s role as the ASEAN Chairman in 2015, we have the unprecedented opportunity to take our tourism industry to a whole new level. In doing so, we acknowledge the vital role played by communication portals as the information gateway to promote ASEAN as a single tourism destination.”

Tan Sri Dr. Ong added that he hoped the portal will continue to enhance quality and depth of content to continue attracting international audiences to discover and experience the best of what Southeast Asia has to offer.

GOASEAN will also be launching their LetsGONow online booking system that will allow users to book hotel rooms and travel throughout the ASEAN region, including features such as transportation booking which will be introduced in the future.
