Fondly known as ‘The Pearl of The Orient’, Penang is enthroned on the northwestern coast of the Malaysian peninsular, and is one of the country’s most eminent parts. This is due to its identity as Malaysia’s culinary heaven, alongside its cultural and historical richness. It is made up of Penang Island and Mainland Penang, both of which are connected by two bridges. Its importance was internationally recognized in 2008, when its capital, George Town, became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
